When students are doing a writing prompt, as soon as they click into the text box to start typing their answer, the preview countdown clock disappears. Students have stated that it doesn't seem fair especially if they want to use the extra time to jot down ideas or if they just accidentally hover over the text box to set up their cursor.
Perhaps a response to this would be to not allow students to type into the answer box until the review time expires. This would avoid students feeling "penalized" for starting early.
Hi Michael, is this related to the Review Timer disappearing or the entire question prompt?
If it's only related to the Review Timer, as soon as students click on the text input that would be considered Response Time. If the Review Time doesn't end when the response begins it seems like it would defeat the purpose of having a separate review/response time that teachers can control, or am I missing something?
If it's related to the entire question prompt disappearing, that would relate to this feature being enabled, but it does sound like you're only referring to the timers.
